Bute Park - Winter 08/09

It's winter now...it's definitely freezing in here..and it's even worse than last year. The bitterness of this cold weather really makes us missing our country even more. The baldness of the trees, the gloomy views and those piles of dried leaves are what left for us to appreciate. Nevertheless, the kids are always amazing and are never tired of having fun....

Parcel from Malaysia!!!!

Yeayyy!!!!!
We received a parcel from Malaysia this morning.Really excited and glad to look at the things: anchovies, dried shrimp, dried chillies,'minyak angin', spices and herbs, Milo and even moulds to make my favourite 'kuih cara' and 'kuih jala' !Usually it takes about 3 months to get a parcel from Malaysia.Well, maybe this time we're lucky enough to get it within 2 months time. Flashing back to the time when I was in USA..I never bothered to get all these things from my family..Maybe I was single at that time... no need to worry or crave for Malaysian food, I guess!! This time....being a wife and mum....everything has to be right when it comes to cooking...especially when the children are clever enough to comment on the food!!!

Just found a new you tube show that is really adored by my little princess.She really likes it that she would stop fussing around with her tantrum once she heard this song.  Even her mum likes to watch it too!!!

Sarah-High School Activities

Sarah is in high school - Year 7.One thing for sure...she got loads of workloads now compared than when she was in junior school.Assignments and projects are her best friends now...Frankly, I am really glad to see her burying herself with the workloads now..at least I know that she's learning something new everyday.It's kinda difficult for me to be updated with the syllabus here...I could only guess the topics based on the homeworks.Bought a few revision books for her and her sisters at Borders recently...Well..what can I say...being a teacher before really forces me to get to know in detail about their education to ensure that they won't be left out...Hey!Every mums wants the best for their children!!

Christmas Show

Myra and Misya had a christmas show just before the christmas break.Myra participated in the Dr Who roleplay where else Misya joined her classmates in singing and dancing. Glad to see that both of them were really enjoying themselves...I was really proud to know that Myra was selected by the teachers to act on that day...it really shows that she could carry herself very well in school..  As for Misya..well..what more can I say...singing and dancing are her favourites. I was not feeling well on that day but as I had promised the girls to be there on their special day....I kept insisting to myself that I was just fine and alright...But as soon as the show ended and I was back home, I was flat on my bed for more than a week!Phew!!This flu bug is really a disaster when it comes to winter season....

Ice Skating Winter 2008

The kids are having their christmas break for two weeks now. They've been waiting for this ice-skating trip for ages!!!To make it merrier and of course even 'funnier', I managed to gather 19 kids to skate together on that day. Yeap!!!They really had so much fun.....some of them were really afraid of falling that they kept holding and grabbing whatever infront of them...some were brave enough and tried hard to master the skating skills. At the end of the day, all of them went back home almost soaking wet!!!

Girls Sleepover!!!!!

The girls had two sleepovers last month....at aunty Aiza's house and the other one was held by themselves at home.Few girls were invited ...they had food as well as pillow fighting, facial, henna and watching movies together....Girls!!!!What else could be in their minds when they're together except than having FUN!!!As a mum....I could only make sure that the food was superb...and of course, stay away from their activities!!!  Sometimes, these kids do need a break from us, right mums??!!!!

Libyan friends...

It started with a friendship between Misya and her classmate, Orgwan...and now the whole family become our good friends...
We were invited to their house for Eid...to taste some of their Libyan delicacies....never thought that they would buy and cook one whole lamb just to treat us on that day! Luckily, we brought along our friends; Norsiah's family and de single 'sisters'.At least, they could help us to finish up the food!!!
Ever heard of how good an Arabian person is, as a host? Well...they definitely are....Two thumbs up for their hospitality and yummylicious food!!!!!

Salam Eid-ul-Adha....

It's Eid-ul-Adha....
Alhamdulillah...another round of Eid for us in Cardiff...this time, no ketupat or lemang for us...but more on nasi briyani, chicken tandoori, ayam masak merah, pulut kuning and beef curry....We performed our 'solat sunat' with the other Malaysian community at the community centre...Various foods were served there too...lontong, nasi himpit, nasi minyak, rendang and others. A few close friends came to our house and later, we're off to Norsiah's and a Libyan friend's houses. By the time we came back home, it's already dark...Time to sleep and rest...Phew!!!Our tummy were definitely fully filled up with loads of stuff!!!Better give 'em a break!
