The Journey...
|
|
It took us more than 3 hours to get to Dover port...took a ferry and reached Calais, France in 2 hours time. From Calais, we headed straight to Holland...stopped at several service areas...and eventually, arrived safely at Duinrell in the afternoon. Holland is indeed a beautiful country....really amazed with its richness in agriculture...(Should have earlier applied for a place to study here! )

Tok's Arrival!
|
|
Yeayyy!!!!Tok is here!!!
The kids have been waiting eagerly for their tok's arrival especially Misya. She kept asking me the same question ; "Is tok coming here tomorrow?" since last month...and when the answer she got was "No"...she would said "Urgghhhhh...what is taking tok so long !!!!"
The journey from Cardiff to Stansted takes about 3 1/2 hours so we decided to spend a day at our friend's house in Surrey . The kids had an awesome time playing with their friends there...while their parents were busy stuffing themselves with yummylicious food in the kitchen...
Alhamdulillah...my dear mother-in-law arrived safely at Stansted Airport without having any hassle at both the immigration and baggage counters. Thanks to the Almighty for fulfilling our dreams to bring her here...to spend her days with the kids after being separated for about 1 1/2 years..and to have the chance to be in UK...something that she might have not dreamt to be should we were not here....InsyaAllah...we will let her see, taste and enjoy this new environment beautifully....(*sigh* how I wish I could do the same thing to my late parents.... )

Cardiff Games 2009
|
|
The annual Cardiff Games was held by the Malaysian Student Society of Cardiff University at the University Sports Centre Talybont. As usual, the undergraduates would be the participants in the sport activities...Netball, Badminton, Football, Table Tennis, Basketball, Chess, Scrabble etc while the postgraduates would be busy selling (and counting money ) including me!He!He!
This year, we sold Nasi Tomato Ibunda, Nasi Lemak Bidara and Rojak Penang Mari (interesting names, huh?! ). Thanks to my mother-in-law for sharing with me her special recipe of the rojak sauce! Of course with 3 hours of sleep, it's kinda tiring...but hey!We enjoyed ourselves very much...and the team spirit of the single sisters really helped to boost my energy.Thank you my dear friends!(might need your assistance again, next year...he!he!)Even little Damia enjoyed her day too with her friends....picking up the daisies and daffodils....

Mother's Day!
|
|
I was preparing for breakfast this morning and saw all of 'em came towards the dining table. As usual my first words to them were..."Go and brush your teeth!" when suddenly my dear hubby posed me a question , "Hey, Look! What is that thing doing on the table?" And of course, every mum's reaction to that kind of question is to have a quick glance on that spot with curiosity And there it was....a cute pink box, beautifully tied up with gold ribbons and also a BIG card ! "Happy Mother's Day!!!"they screamed as loud as they could! Even my lil' Damia was really excited....
Thanks my dear angels for your gift and card...and most of all..for always be by my side....You guys are my strength and motivation!
p/s:Thanx also to my dear Aiza...who can be nominated for the best actress award for her talent in the 'drama'!Bravo!!(maybe you should proceed with another phd in drama after this?)

Poem - Eisteddfod competitions
|
|
She is known in our family as the one who always look for challenges (and also trouble! ). She is always curious in everything and keeps asking us for answers in all sorts of things...(*phew!!sometimes the questions are too tough!*)She's even the teaser in the family and her habit of teasing her sisters always causes her to be punished! She wants to try in everything...cricket, netball, aerobic, history,role-play...and now it's poem. Never thought that one day, she came back from school and said: "Mama...I won the poem competition!" and showed me her prize(Wales watch)...She's also announced as the school's BARD (winner of the poetry competition)
Well, that's our dear Myra (Kak Ngah)! However mischievous you sometimes are...we're always proud of you, dear!
The Beauty of Wales
Vast green fingers
Weathered and ancient
Wrinkled by streams
Moulded by glaciers
Speckled white by sheep
Scarred by paths
Stained by clouds
Washed by the rain
Dried by the sun
Glorious green fingers
Trembling not as they reach
Deep into the Heart of Wales
Dark knuckles like beacons
Watching over the land
And soft round fingertips
Caressing the valleys

There was a rugby tournament between England and Wales.No....we did not watch the games! It was my hubby's idea to bring the children there...to see how supportive the people are when it comes to rugby tournament and of course when it involves between Wales and England!! He was truly right!! All of them..male, female, children..even the disabled senior citizens were there...supporting their favourite team.Go Cymru!

PhD Dinner 2009
|
|
We had dinner last night at Aberdare Hall, Cardiff University. It was arranged for PhD students of the Business School (CARBS). This time, I got the chance to attend it.The function started at 7.30pm....mingled around with the other students and professors, snapped a few photos and later sat down with the other marketing students .Well, it's totally vegetarian food for us (Muslim)...but the food was delicious especially the Lemon CheeseCake(if only I could bring it back to the kids!!! )Had a chit-cat with my supervisors ; Prof Foxall and Dr Mirella....Well, guess what?At the end of the day, I was given a usual or routine 'invitation' from my supervisor;
"Wanna come to my office next week to discuss about your data(research)?"
Oh man!!!Got to push my gear now!!!!

Happy Birthday Kak Ngah!
|
|
Our Precious Daughter
We celebrate your birthday today
But we have got the gift, just the perfect gift
That on this special day, God gave away
A gift of love from up above,so unique and so rare
God has specially made you, to the very tip of your nose
as precious as a flower, as tender as a rose
fulfilled and blessed our lives we have and all because of you
as sweet as honey,so innocent and pure
the twinkle of your eyes is brighter than any star
the smiles you leave behind keep our days bright
though our laps you have outgrown
you will never outgrow our hearts
we watch and pray as you grow
in love and faith, in beauty and in grace
you bring us joy and pure delight
just to gaze upon your lovely face
our hearts you keep warm and are with you wherever you may go
and as you go on life’s journey, only happiness you may find
you are the joyful moments through our sorrow
you are our hope and promise of our tomorrow
We asked Him for a flower, He gave us a bouquet
we asked Him for a minute, He gave us a day
we prayed for true love, and He gave us that too
we prayed for an angel, and He gave us you
May God bless you, our dear angel
especially on this day
that marks your birth
for all the special ways you bring
a bit of heaven into our world
Love: Papa & Mama
