Barry Island

Barry Island is about 10 minutes drive from Cardiff....heard about it ages ago from friends and newspapers but believe it or not, this was our first time here after been in Cardiff for more than a year! It was sunny that day so rather than spending the day at home doing NOTHING, might as well enjoyed the day out with the others and brought the kids there. There's an amusement park with rides and games, lovely beach and also shops and restaurant especially fish n chips! As usual, being a mom of 4, I have no choice but to bring along some food in order to avoid them from being hungry and also to keep down our expenses!

Sleepover

View all 7 photos...
One thing about our dear Misya...she really likes to make friends...and her intention to have fun by bringing her friends for sleepover sometimes gives me headache! Why not? With different culture, race and religion..of course, I (as the CHEF in the house! ) have to make sure that the food can be eaten by them...(Hmm, maybe I should try serving them with 'sambal belacan' one of these days?).

Well, this time she invited her best friend, Ruby for a sleepover. They watched movies(from the internet, of course!), played a few games and slept really late that night. I prepared some pancakes with butter and honey for breakfast....My mother-in-law made some 'kuih cara manis' and I intentionally served Ruby a piece of it on her plate. She tasted it and this was her reaction...

It's really great for the kids to have an amusement park nearby our cabin in EuroCamp. Not only that, they also had fun in the swimming pool as well. As promised, before we departed from Holland, we spent a few hours in the Amusement Park. The kids had a blast time 'torturing' themselves, I guess!

Best friends!

I saw you, little girls
with the sweetest smiles
And the tottering walk,
With fingers set like flower-petals on your round palms
Each with rosy cheeks–
The sun shone from your eyes.

For you, all things are to touch, and explore
You have so much to learn …
So many prisms through which must pass
Your ray of light
To shine on the screen of life at last.

Damia and Tok

Little Damia was only 18 months old when we came here. It's been more than a year and within that time...she only has her parents and of course her siblings around her. Maybe that's why she's a bit reluctant to fully let herself around her grandma.....being very young at that time when we left our country. Hopefully, she'll get along well very soon.....(I mean REALLY SOON as I have to leave her with her grandma to concentrate on my studies.... )

Brussel, Belgium

We spent the last day in Brussel, Belgium.Mini-Europe is a must for tourists as it is a park located nearby the Atomium in Brussels. It is where you can have a tour around replicas of famous cities in Europe; from London, Paris, Spain and many more .Europe is indeed a very diverse place with a lot of stunning attractions and it is impossible (for me!) to go around all these places. Having been to this park, I was able to look at famous buildings and monuments (although only replicas and models ) such as the Berlin Wall, Pisa Tower, Athens Acropolis etc. What else could I ask more?

Tok... you didnt brought "sambal belacan"?!!! Wed 29-Apr-2009 12:41

Amsterdam

We spent the whole day in the city of Amsterdam. Took a tram to the city...obviously, it's better than driving our car to avoid the traffic and expensive parking fees and of course from getting lost in the city . It's really amazing looking at the mean of transportation in this city...Tram lines are scattered on the main road...different traffic lights for vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians... How do these people get along with the road and traffic signs? There was time when I almost got hit when crossing the road as I was really confused with the traffic lights!

There's also main streets for nightlife of gays, lesbians and bisexuals. Drugs and prostitution are legalized in Amsterdam as it is the largest and most well known red-light district. There are hundreds of sex shops, sex theatres and peep shows. Even cannabis products (such as cannabis lollipops!) are widely sold at the shops. I had a hard time trying to avoid the kids from looking and staring at these things!!!

Kak ngah was really glad having had the chance to go to Anne Frank House...she insisted to go there as she learnt about it in school and she really, really loves to talk about the history especially the World War 2...Sometimes, it's good having someone like her who enjoys history so much...at least I can learn something about the past without having to look for the information from the book or internet!

Flowers everywhere...The beauty of nature!

Tulips

The tulip has great strength as it pokes up from the sod
The strong green leaf surrounds the bud and acts as a façade
Then as the leaves spread open and the colored heads appear
The beauty of God’s planning often cause those eyes to tear
The jagged edge is lacy as it gently opens wide
And as it does, we will be blessed …by the beauty found inside
The stamen stands so proudly in the center as on cue
And the colors vary greatly in the star shaped colored hue
Their splendor is a statement, yet in a simple way
They give a casual beauty to a lovely new spring day
It’s like they're bowing over to give their quiet nod
To their talented creator,…to the Great Almighty God

Keukenhof - Tulip Garden

Keukenhof is the most famous garden in Holland with acres of colourful, beautiful and amazing flowers especially tulips. The scenery was really fabulous with vibrant colours everywhere. I fell in love with the stunning displays of blooming flowers at once! Apart from tulips, Holland is also well known for its traditional windmills, cheese and clogs (wooden shoes).I guess, this was the best attraction for my mother in law as she is a flower lover.

Euro Camp - Dunrell, Holland

We arrived in Duinrell, Holland in the afternoon. Took a rest after a long and tiring journey. We had BBQ for dinner...I made some kebab which I have marinated earlier. Everyone was enjoying the place especially the kids.We stayed at Eurocamp, a self catering holiday accomodations which also offers amazing facilities including swimming pools, waterslides and theme park! It provides a relaxing place to stay where there are loads of friends and activities. It's the best choice for those who are looking for economical yet fun lodging for vacation in Europe.
