UK Tour -Day 2

View all 20 photos...
Managed to get some rest for a few hours..guess everyone was still energetic cause this was only the 2nd day. The kids were even more excited than yesterday when we told them that we're heading to Blackpool Pleasure Beach Amusement Park! But first, we went to Liverpool...managed to grab a fridge magnet only..(Wow!It's really expensive in here!)Took some pictures at the Liverpool Stadium too.
I could only hear the "oohhh" and "wowwww" from the kids once we reached at the amusement park.Of course, every kids would be thrilled looking at the roller coaster rides. I was a big fan of roller coaster before(when I was YOUNG & SINGLE!) but now..NO more rides for me, please! Life is too precious to be spent on risky and torturing rides! The kids had a blasting time! We spent the night at Carlisle.

The van
Are you ready?
Where are the others?

Today's the day we've been waiting for....yeah,UK Tour!!!!

It's summer break...now is the best time to go for vacation. This time, we hired a 12 passengers van...to make sure that everybody would be comfortable coz it's gonna take us through thousands of miles.
The scenery of Wales are really amazing and beautiful. We passed by several attractive spots such as Swansea, Port Talbot, Camarthen, Tenby, Fishguard and Snowdonia. We took a break at the beach in Tenby..enjoying both the scenery and the delicious lunch prepared by kak Dilla. My husband and I fell in love with the scenery that we decided to travel around the Wales one day...especially the camping site. By the time we arrived in Helkyn,it's almost midnight...everyone was really tired and fell asleep on the comfortable bed as soon as we got our own room.

It's been a cold, wet summer for the past few days. Luckily for us...the weather was better this morning...so we went for fruit picking at Gelynis Fruit Farm. July is the best time to pick all sorts of berries...strawberries, raspberries, loganberries, blackberries, blueberries...and many more. The kids love strawberries so much that they tend to pick unripe ones at first. Little Damia had so much fun picking and at the same time, eating her favourite fruit.

Surah Ar Rahman.....

Listening to this recitation of surah Ar-Rahman is a 'must' since I got this website from my husband . The first time I listened to it...my heart just melt away. The surah itself is so beautiful and amazing...it's the bride or the beauty of the Quran. Even the kids love this surah and trying hard to read as melodiously as they can. This is what I could get from the internet about this surah:

Our Prophet Mohammad s.a.w. had once said that “Whoever reads it, Allah will have mercy on his weakness and be regarded as having thanked Allah for it”
Imam Jaffer al-Sadiq (a.s.) had said, “Allah will brighten the face of everyone who recites it often on the day of Judgement

Sport's Day for Misya

Misya and her best friend
Funny faces!
View all 11 photos...
Sport's Day was held at Severn Road Infant School. It was Misya's turn to show her outdoor skills.Unfortunately, the weather was a bit rainy and windy, so the activities were held in the hall. It was fun to watch these kids together...playing in a team..communicating to each other...those happy faces..They were grouped into several teams and points were given according to the team's score for each activities.Misya was really enjoying herself participating in all the games...and of course, showing her skills to her mum .Being the only Malay in this school(her sisters are in junior school) has brought her up to be more independent. She was a bit shy and 'gloomy' during her first few days in this school ...but now..I can hardly see those sad faces anymore..and most of all...she can now speak in English, fluently...with of course, British slang!

Sarah & Myra' Progress Report

Sarah's progress report

View all 8 photos...
We had a parent-teacher meeting with Sarah & Myra's class teachers.I couldn't help wondering how these two sisters are doing in school...with the new environment, culture and friends around. To be frank, I do feel a bit regret for not letting Sarah to sit for the UPSR examination this year. She had been working so hard preparing for the examination these two years hoping to get the best results. Deep in my heart, I know that she could get a good result looking at her determination and hard work, insyaallah. Making a decision to come here really involved everyone in my family...Sarah had to let go her UPSR examination, my husband had to leave his 12 years job and most of all...we had to be separated from our loved ones in Malaysia. These sacrifices are truly my motivation....to complete my study and come back home, leading a better life.
Alhamdulillah, the progress reports that we got from their teachers shed away our worries and regret. Both Sarah and Myra did well in their studies throughout this year. The teachers were so grateful to have them in school. They had no problem in adapting themselves with the education system eventhough it is totally different from our home country.English seem not to be a big problem to them..well might be because I have been pushing them so hard to master this language back in Malaysia(hey!I can't help it...I was an English teacher.. )Alhamdulillah...that's the only word that's been recited in our heart over and over again once we stepped out from the meeting...and of course, with happy, smiling faces!

My classmate, Zarina gave birth to a baby boy.An aqiqah was being held and organized by CK(cardiff keluarga) committee. It's great to have many Malaysian families gathered together. And as usual, the kids were the ones having so much fun running, playing and laughing together. It's wonderful hearing them communicating to each other...English is always their language..might be because they're more comfortable speaking in that language rather than their own mother tongue! And to hear their British slang... how I wish I could speak like them too! We had 'solat hajat' as well, praying for those who are in their last stage of PhD journey..may they be blessed by Allah in their thesis and Viva. Thanks to Ust Anuar for his 'ceramah'...it reminded us all of who we are as a human being...
Well, I keep reminding myself that the PhD is something that can only be granted by Allah s.w.t...not even by my supervisor, university or MYSELF! Of course it's something that has to be searched and dug for the whole 3-4 years in getting the robust outcome...however, only Allah knows the best....PhD itself is a journey .Some people are lucky enough to get their PhD in less than 3 years...some might need a longer period to get to the final draft, sit for the viva and be awarded, Doctor of Philosophy. As a part of journey in life, I believe that PhD should be 'travelled' with our beloved ones around...to share the laughter and sadness no matter what. The mixed feelings would make us a better person, mentally and emotionally.Frustration, anger and sorrow along the journey could then be fought back with endless courage and determination with the love and support by the loved ones as they are truly the backbones of one's successful journey...
To my beloved hubby and daughters...thank you for being a part of this journey.I will always cherish the moments with you...the jewels of my heart. To my families in Malaysia.....your love, support and pray are the utmost precious gift I've ever needed

PhD is a 'journey'...like the analogy of the 'rocks' which we've discussed.. Wed 9-Jul-2008 18:32

Graduation Day
with my friends....
KPLI 2003
View all 6 photos...
A chat with my old friend , Sarah yesterday reminded me of the old days when we were in KPLI at IPDA,Jitra. Never even thought that I would be pursuing my PhD now at that time.It was great and I learnt a lot about teaching especially the primary school children. English was my option as this was the 'killer' subject among the Malays.Yeah..I made the right decision joining the teaching college...at least, I had the chance to learn the right techniques on how to teach English to the kids.Teaching is indeed a noble profession. Teachers are able to have a great influence on a student which will remain forever. Even after so many years, students do come back to their old schools to thank their teachers. This was what I saw in my ex-school. The senior teachers would always have these satisfaction look everytime seeing their ex- students in a successful position.Sometimes, I do feel regret leaving behind those wonderful kids in school who seem to begin to love this subject. There are still many things that I need to share with them...to let them know how important education is to their lives. But somehow, I realize that there are other priorities as well that I need to focus more such as my own education...Insyaallah..I'll come back and continue my teaching profession..eventhough, I'll be teaching the adults.. who knows, someday, I'll be teaching my ex-school children..That might be the time when I will definitely have the same satisfaction look just like those senior teachers! Good luck to my friends (TESL/KPLI 2003)!!!

Happy birthday to you!Happy birthday to you!Happy birthday to dear Yong!Happy birthday to you....

My dear sis celebrated her birthday today....Yong is always a great sister to all of us.Ever since our beloved parents passed away, she has been the one we look up for advice, love and support. As the youngest in the family, Yong is always the first person I talk to about everything...She's a great aunt to all her nephews and nieces, too. Her special thoughts of sending birthday cards to each one of them every year, is something that I, myself could not do it! Thanks to Alun for sending me these pictures...I can see that everybody was having a good time...the cake looks yummy! Wish we were there too....
Happy Birthday to a fabulous sister!

Sports Day for Sarah and Myra!
Being as a teacher before, I couldn't help but to compare the activities held in Malaysian schools with those in Cardiff.Well...a lot of differences.I noticed that kids love to go to school in UK..even my kids...they would be upset if they missed school..not like when they were in Msia. Primary school education in UK is more like learning and playing. The kids do not only have a lunch break but also 2 breaks for playtime..yeah..they have projects here and there..but they really enjoy doing those stuff. The Sports Day, for example, was held in a very simple way. There were no huge tents or stage around..even, the kids were wearing any t-shirts they like as long as the colours match with their house colours. In Msia, sports day is always a hectic day for the teachers. It takes months to rehearse and practice before the actual day.Back in my ex-school, I was always the MC....and thank God! I could sit comfortably under the tent without having to be out in the sun like the others!

yuhuu kak zureen! nice 2 c u again! nampak kurus skit....stress ka? eheheh..
