First day at school!
|
|
It's first day at school for my little princess....Well....it's called playgroup session actually and it's meant for children under 4 years old. Damia was really excited to go there that she insisted to walk on her own rather than sitting on her stroller. But as soon as she was greeted by the teachers, she hid herself behind me!
Anyway, it's a good beginning for her to socialize around with other children . She was amazed with all the toys especially the 'kitchen gadgets'.. that she kept on saying...'wash!wash!wash!'

Malaysian Nottingham Games
|
|
The Nottingham Malaysian Games was held in Nottingham last Saturday. It's the largest Malaysian sporting event in the United Kingdom, attracting participants from all universities across the UK. This was the best time for the sudents to show their talents in all sorts of games; football, netball, badminton, you just name it!
Well, my dear 'football-talented' hubby joined the games too! I guess, rather than showing off his football skills to the junior students...he might as well establish and strengthen the relationship with his friends and new ones..right, hubby?

Akikah
|
|
An 'aqiqah' was held at Cardiff Community Centre last week hosted by Dr Hairul and Dr Hila for their newborn sons. As usual, we performed 'solat jemaah' together which is something that I always look forward each time we have a gathering. Sacrificing animals, distributing the meat (or having a feast) and shaving the babies' hair are some of the sunnah that a muslim should perform for having a newborn baby.I can still remember the feasts that we had each time we held an aqiqah for our girls.Seeing and meeting our families and friends during the feasts were really exciting!
Whenever there's an aqiqah held by the member of Cardiff Society...I can't help imagining myself...how I might have been one of the hosts ...if only I did not have the miscarriage last year....

Happy Birthday, hubby!
|
|
My Blessing in Life
Every morning when I wake up and see
The most handsome man lying next to me
He's the one I cherish and love
A blessing sent from Heaven above
I will love him as a faithful wife should
And do everything for him I could
I would let him know everyday
That I love him more than words can say
For the 4 children we have together
And the love for God in each other
It will keep our love for each other strong
And God will guide us away from all wrong (quoted frm:Jessica L.Newsome)
Happy Birthday, honey!

Eid party at school!
|
|
An Eid party was held at the kids' school. They brought along their mom's cookies to be shared with their friends and teachers. They were excited to wear and show off their 'baju kurung' to their friends. It's wonderful to see colourful and beautiful traditional costumes worn by these kids in school.Glad that the Eid festival is noted and acknowledged in this country as one of the important festivals to be celebrated especially in schools...

Eid Mubarak!

Salam Aidil Fitri to our families and friends...where ever you are!
We celebrated AidilFitri a day earlier than in Malaysia.Alhamdulillah..the kids managed to fully perform the fasting without any difficulties.I have promised myself to make AidilFitri this year the best that I could for the sake of the kids as last year they celebrated it with gloomy faces.Well, can't blame them as last year we have just arrived here and we have not adjusted ourselves yet to the surroundings and of course, we were totally feeling homesick!Alhamdulillah, with the help of my 3 dear friends; Aiza, Zuha and Didi, this AidilFitri was a blast one!
We made a few cookies a few days before the celebration. The kids were really excited and of course, they ate half of the cookies themselves on the same day!I made rendang tok, rendang ayam, kuah kacang, nasi himpit, lemang dan sate.Wow! Did I really cook all these? Frankly speaking, this is the normal attitude of us when we're far away from home.Name it...you can surely cook anything when you're forced to!
We also had 'takbir' the night before raya.Almost 40 Malaysian students came to 'takbir' at our house. The house was really fulled and crowded but somehow everything turned out smoothly and it was a wonderful feeling yet a bit touchy to listen to the 'takbir'. There were loads of things to be done at that night that I only slept for 3 hours.....but it's worth it especially each time I looked at the glowing smiles on the kids' faces!

It's been a year!
|
|
Yeap! It's been a year since we came here in UK!
It's been a year since we left our hometown...and our loved ones.I can still remember the heart wrenching feeling I had during the last moments I spent with them. I can still clearly remember the teary goodbyes at the airport. The decision that I made to be here really affected everyone especially my hubby and the kids. I was a bit worry and fear of the changes that we had to bear once we're here...hoping that everything would turn out to be okay for us.
It's been a year since the last time we tasted food from the 'pasar malam', durian and of course the kids' favourites; KFC & Mc Donald! How we miss those food terribly!
A lot of things happened within a year. The miscarriage that I had last year was the most awful and traumatic one.Alhamdulillah...we managed to overcome the obstacles throughout our journey with the guidance from Allah s.w.t.The stressful life that we had in adapting the changes in our lives taught us to be more independent and wiser in making any decisions. The kids were a bit confused earlier....but now, I can see that they have learnt a lot of what life is all about. Alhamdulillah....
Obviously, there are still many obstacles waiting for me in my journey to get the PhD . Sometimes, I do find myself wandering aimlessly, trying to cross impassable obstacles and running into many walls along the way. Sometimes, I do feel like turning myself back...running away from all these challenges.Anger, sadness, emptiness and happiness are part of the emotions that have been my good friends along this journey.Honestly, sometimes I am still trying to figure out what exactly I wanted to do with my life .Do I really need a PhD? Why do I have to punish myself like this?
InsyaAllah....yes, insyaAllah...everything will turn out to be how it should be if we trust on Him. He is always there for us . Everything will be alright! Allah is always there to help us out. Whenever we seek His help, He never fails to help us.....
To our dear families...we do still miss you guys and always will. This separation brings us closer and we get to know each other better.
"When one is not around, we tend to love, value and appreciate him/her even more...."
